Osteoporosis trends 2012

This presentation provides an overview on osteoporosis, its causes and treatment. Osteoporosis, which causes bones to become brittle and break, should not be confused with osteoarthritis. The Food and Drug Administration warns that proton pump inhibitors may increase the risk of fractures of the hip, wrist and spine. Proton pump inhibitors are used in medications such as Nexium to reduce gastric acidity.
